  • Daisy's story
Save N The Day, aka Daisy, is my talented, quirky, extremely opinionated, does not like to be coddled, only allows certain people into her bubble 2007 TB chestnut mare.
Jumping her was like being rocket launched yet she was/is super comfy to ride. Her eventing career ended abruptly In October 2015 due to a pasture injury.
This page will be about her accident, injuries sustained, and on going recovery. I am sharing this because her injuries were something that multiple, highly respected veterinarians have never seen. All along this journey, I've kept hearing "we can try this but honestly, I've never seen anything like this". And there's very limited written information available to research which has been very frustrating. So she is a case study!

Info/story is in the captions of each photo!
Update: 10/9/16: Daisy transported from Michigan to Florida uneventfully on 9/16/16 and was sound getting off the trailer. After settling in a week (and us rebuilding stalls/fencing, etc) I was able to start riding her again. She had become very attached to Lola during the trip and would go crazy if I took Lola out of her stall (even if Lola was right there). I was so worried that she would re-injure herself but knock on wood....... We are now walk, trot, cantering like a normal horse (in the beginning, we were restricted to only trotting/cantering on straight lines) and we expanded our trot pole work to add single canter poles. If she continues to stay sound with this work, we can "think about" jumping in 2 months! Like usual, I'll give her extra time before we actually do, but just the thought is exciting! I didn't think I'd ride her again, let alone be trotting and cantering! Daisy now has a stall with an attached paddock and has the freedom to move around and be a horse! It makes me so happy to have her come so far! Fingers crossed for us!

12/10/16: Daisy competed in her first show since her injury ! We did USEA BN test B dressage test and except for a little excitement in the first canter depart, we had a very steady and obedient test to place 3rd with a 33%. As much as I wanted to go re-do our test to fix that small mistake, I'm so thrilled to have her at a point where I could actually consider showing! If you asked me a year ago if I would believe this would happen, I'd say no way. I was just hoping for a small miracle that she'd be able to be pasture sound and be able to live like a horse. This is icing on the cake! Love my redhead! ❤️

7/2017:
Daisy has been (knock on wood) progressing well! She has been jumping low courses (for fun, not for showing. She loves to jump and it's great cross training for the dressage work) and has attended a few more dressage shows scoring in the top 3 with scores 65-70%. She hasn't been out much due to Lola's schedule taking priority but watch for her this upcoming season!
